  7. REELlibrarian manages tape libraries and user tape mount requests in a network
  8. or stand-alone environment.  REELlibrarian, a complete distributed tape
  9. library management system for networked UNIX systems, allows users to access
  10. tape storage on an ad-hoc basis while ensuring the integrity and security of
  11. valuable data.  REELlibrarian protects tapes from being inadvertently written
  12. over, sent to the wrong location, or lost.  REELlibrarian manages tape
  13. libraries and user tape mount requests via a central operator.  It also
  14. provides simple, logical, media-independent access to off-line storage
  15. facilities.  A centralized mount request system presents tape mount requests
  16. to the operator, an on-line catalog tracks tapes and tape activity.
  17. REELlibrarian includes a programmer's function library of C language routines
  18. for performing mounts and tape access from within UNIX programs.
